No Hearts or Mushy Stuff


 Clearly I am technologically impaired and cannot figure out how to rotate this photo. So I guess you just have to look at it with your head tilted.:)

This month I used up most of my Photo Play Freebird Collection, which I LOVE! And it has no mushy stuff in the collection. I loved the sketch I chose and all the patterned paper, but it made finding a good background hard. So I made one. I used just red, blue and green water color with a LOT of water so really be able to spread it and keep it subtle. I also splattered some Tim Holtz Distress Spray in and antique brown color.

This layout is a part of my heart, even if I didn't use any hearts. My little buddy loves to craft with me. One day I was either sorting paper or making page kits and he helped me do it all. He would try to tell me what matched or what  color it went with. I love that my little ones get excited about my hobby, want to help, and love to look at their books.

  My cue from the design team on  http://riverofcreativity.blogspot/  was sunshine! I found this sunburst cut file... I am new to a Cricut Maker and this is the first cut file I have used on a layout.  I am also learning how to blog. So cut me some slack. I used the Echo Park Pool Party Collection for all the papers I used to back the cut file. I also used the stickers from the same collection.  Our prompt was “sunshine” and I thought about it for a few days. Then cut the cut file and found my photo and it lead me to my paper collection. I am trying to learn more and more about mixed media and am so grateful to work with these talented ladies to watch and learn from them.

Parent and Child

This prompt was interestingly very difficult for me. I looked at other team members ideas and I still just struggled. But I made a mixed media mess and played with my Cricut and just did a photo with my kids and a giant title about a blended and blessed family. I watercolored a "frame" and I learned that I needed less paint and more water. Lesson Number 1. So I tore the outside and inside so it looked more like a frame instead of a blob. I backed a wreath cut file and made a title. It was really quite simple. But so hard for me to conceptualize. Thanks, Zoe and River of Creativity Team for stretching me.
